RAF - Monks
Just read today that you can RAF monks.
This is what I am thinking of doing:
I would like to purchase another copy of WoW and earn the recruit a friend level 80 grant levels thing.
Then I would like to grant it to a monk. My thought process goes like this: Monks are good. We need a monk.
Would any of you be willing to help with this? I think what I need is to recruit the new account and then have someone play it together with me in order to level two characters to 85, this is the only way you can get the grant levels thing, right?
Another possibility is ISBoxer. I have to say though I am hesitant as it will require changing everything about how I play the game currently and will make switching between current characters very difficult. I know it is a lot to ask and I don't have much to offer because a new account will be in my name and won't be able to transfer the levelled toons to your account so maybe this is just plain a bad idea. I just know that seeing the $20 for all expansions up to Cata seems like too good a deal to pass up.

Re: RAF - Monks
Hmmm
I never thought of this, banking free levels to cash in the day MoP hits. How did you hear that those levels will be able to be used on monks? The baby account gives the daddy account free levels....
Your plan is fine but I'm possibly not as altruistic as you. Maybe this scheme would be more mutually beneticial;
Your main account recruits a new Shawn account
New Shawn account recruits a new iain account
We three man Zerg to 85.
New Shawn account dings your monk up
New iain account dings Shawn's monk up
A couple a account transfers later - everyone is happy.
Unless there is a moratorium on monk RaF dinging for the first 3 months in which case we wasted a lot of money :P

Here you are sir, and I believe your plan is quite genius. Give me the go-ahead and I will order forthwith!

Re: RAF - Monks
I need to confirm with the better half.
I know he will want a monk and this would be a great way for each of us to get closer to one of each class at max level achieve. He is missing only Shammy. I would do a feral Druid with him as resto we could abuse the dungeon finder or just 3 man instances with BoA sets for huge gains.

Just reread your scheme, I would be happy to buy one of the sets of copies and put time on it to sweetens the deal.

Which class will you level?
How free is your weekend?

Re: RAF - Monks
wait lets do this, but with 10 people and we can raid our way to 85!!!
we can even start a new guild named RaF Allstars gogo Monk!
Does this mean saturdays calendar event is going to get pre-empted?

Crap.
Just read this today:
Apparently, theyp osted saying it would be allowed and that RAF bonuses wouldn't change but then clarified later to say that levels cannot be granted to them. 300% xp bonus still does apply however.

Will they still get realm first achievements?
Yes.
Will Scroll of Resurrection be available to instant level a monk to 80?
No. That's answered here.

I'm pretty sure level granting is still possible as u receive all RAF benefits! The scroll of res benefit to lvl 80 is what off limits.

Nice. Either way we'll use the next couple of weeks to level a few things to 80, with or without the free monk. RaFing is just plain fun.
Druid
Hunter
DK
I still need all three.

Re: RAF - Monks
keep in mind before you celebrate, that theres still time.... and time is on my side mwahahaha.
I can destroy your plan in a moment by simply starting a raf account myself. The univers will simply not let that stand. While it might find some loop hole to let you raf thru by the skin of your teeth, it will change natural physical laws of time and space to come after me if it appears I may be getting the better of something. So the power is mine!
A monk comes into the library to find another monk weeping over their most ancient tome of rules and laws set down by their order. Concerned he rushes to the weeping monk's side and inquires at the cause of his condition, to which the weeping monk replies:
"The word was celebrate!"

Re: RAF - Monks
It's not too late myth, one of us can send you a RaF invite in a heartbeat.
It takes 2 days to get rid of the "Starter Edition" mark on your acount so you can trade but after it's gone the BoAs are transferable and they seem to add to the 300% making it 350% or so.
We start a Wailing caverns run at level 18 and when we finish we are level 25. Hilarious.
Side note -- I am in the middle of nowhere until Thursday (literally; Saskatoon) so wont be able to RaF till then.

Cmon down! Let me know when you want to and we'll get it done. You could have Myth recruit you and then we would be a full 5 man of RAF'ers!
We are (warlock, shaman and druid) so far. I would assume we would start new toons to continue it and we could plan a full 5 man pretty easily.
The only problem would be coordinating play time (I am EST) and when I stay up too late I get grumpy and break up with my girlfriend which usually results in me having to spend lots of money on flowers and be absent for a couple days while I grovel.

Re: RAF - Monks
Why? If Myth recruits you then he can grant you the levels and you him.
Isn't that how it works?

Re: RAF - Monks
Because my veteran account won't get the level since I need to RAF with it. Unless I recruit him and he recruits me, but would the "baby" accounts still benefit from the 300% xp with out playing with the veteran account?

Re: RAF - Monks
I am quite confused by your post.
My understanding of how it works is this:
You would have to get a wow set ($20 from amazon or bestbuy right now).
Myth would recruit your starter edition, and be able to grant you levels. You would get the 300% xp bonus playing together partied with him.
Each toon you want to move to your veteran account would be $10. You can grant the levels to Myth, he can grant the levels to you. You would have to the levels granted on the new account.
My understanding of how it works is this:
Are there are any restrictions on granting levels?
Levels may only be granted to characters on a veteran account by characters on a linked recruitee account.
Levels may only be granted to characters of the same faction and on the same realm.
Levels may not be granted to characters over level 79.
Levels may not be granted to characters of equal or higher level.
Levels may not be granted once the 90-day account link breaks.
Levels may not be granted to veteran characters with XP gains disabled.

I think availability makes or breaks the whole arrangement. So far we're at ~7 hours played and up to level 58. Sweet!
