State of the Guild -- End of MoP
Shawn and Myth and I decided to make a guild in the last phase of Cata. We had founded and led several guilds on several servers before, but never one dedicated to raiding. We knew it would have to be very small (because we don't like people) and full of adults (because we were sick of kids and nubs) and that the hours of raiding would have to be low (because we were afraid of commitment).
Well, here we are at the end of another expansion. Out of the 13 people that rolled out the gate with us for MoP we retained 9 and picked up several fantastic people along the way. In a very real way our low points have also been our high points. Every time we've been stonewalled we haven't given up, we haven't eaten our own, we haven't become divas or drama queens; we just show up for the next raid and try again. I don't really have the words to express my gratitude for your faith in me (and patience with me) as a nub raid leader / squishy tank / distracted healer.
Of course it's not just me, you've made the guild your own and it wouldn't be the same without you each of you. I may not know everyone real name, I may not remember everyone's job or state, but I promise that you've got a true beer drinking buddy in me. If I had the means I'd be on a cross north America guild drinking tour ASAP. Purple and Myz, you shy bastards cant escape, we must meet up before Shawn and I move to Ontario!
I have so many great memories of this expansion;
That brings me to the point of this thread. I'm sort of just winging it (I'm sure you've picked up on that) and I could really use some feedback.
What would you change about the guild to make it better? I really, really want to know.
Raid times? Hours per week? Size of the raid? Focus? Extra activities? Less? More?
It's your guild too and I would love to have an open forum to talk about how we can make things better. Keep in mind that WoD raiding is changing a bit and normal modes are becoming "Heroic Modes" and that all the raiding we're focusing on is becoming flexible 10-25m. We can expand, or not. Swap days, or not. Add activities, or not.
Let's keep pushing till WoD pops so we can come together, like a happy family!

I have so many great memories of this expansion;
- 4 hours of wiping to stone guardians on the first raid day
- Weeks of attempts on Garalon (expecting the guild to fold over the xmas break)
- Fizzie and I playing the most OP 2on2 comp in the history of WoW and still not breaking 1700, haha, I'm a terribad Warrior
- Sparky never getting a 1H weapon for 7 months
- Braw instantly being fully geared somehow and getting a drop on every boss
- Our absurd, ridiculous Amber shaper "Strategy" each week
- Brew flying off the Lei Shi platform at high speed during progression, then fighting fish in the lake to escape and return
- Getting Horridon to < 5% first week
- Endless series of flaky shaman healers, some dude whos name is lost, Thorist, Korbanis...
- Shawn falling off the edge of Duru trying to battle rez Brew
- Life gripping Sparky one to many times during a fight "Argh... Moogie..."
- Myth being more concerned about living through a wipe than doing damage. And the one time it paid off with a progression kill from DoT dmg while he was in an iceblock
- Picking up Purple from a random ToT pug filler. Best PuG ever my friend.
- Nightsfire ripping a some random pug a new asshole because he was being a douche "That's not what this guild is, or will ever be about!". Way to be, Nights
- Dwizz giving me the biggest guilt trip in history about the $25 server move, then the same week moving $500 worth of toons lol
- Getting to relate every mechanic in the game to "balls", "dead babies" or something sexual (and listening to Braw, Shawn and Sparky giggle)
- Myz for joining the guild 15 ilvls under my shadow priest and then showing me what the class could really do. You are scary good I dont even understand.
- Our first heroic raid kill.
- Myth complaining about everything (even the best things) and for making every new recruit uncomfortable instantly upon joining
- Carlos and Lizz for renewing my faith in heterosexual marriages and adding delicious intrigue to every cloth or INT trinket drop
That brings me to the point of this thread. I'm sort of just winging it (I'm sure you've picked up on that) and I could really use some feedback.

It wasn't the same week, it was at least 2 or 3 weeks. Besides, I decided... who needs a savings account?! lol

Extra activities = underpants parties!!
Idk - there are things we could do together more, challenge modes, old achieves, alt LFR runs, stuff like that I guess.
Here is a question -- do we slowly pick up another 8 people between now and WoD to give a small chance at mythic kills? Or will that ruin the quiet beauty of our little group?

Re: State of the Guild -- End of MoP
I wouldn't rule out more people but I wouldn't recruit either, not until we know if we want to try to progress thru Mythic raids. Also, with there being a drop to 20 from 25 that means there could be more people who would be looking for a group after theirs gets cut down in size once it does come out (next November).
Re: State of the Guild -- End of MoP
Just find another 10 man guild and hook up with them for heroic junk later, they will be in the same boat

Go Away.

Re: State of the Guild -- End of MoP
Okay so thats basically what I'm thinking too. Pick up people not on a recruiting push but just as opportunity arises, slowly to make sure they arent tools.
Mythic or not mythic having 15 core raiders wouldnt be terrible and wouldnt be a massive change to 25m or anything.

15 people would always be terrible.
Can I sit out?
